Hmmm
Books:
OMG Books. Ummm, where to start? Well, it's all fantasy, for one.
- Favorite series - The Exhiles Chronicles by Melanie Rawn. Despite the fact that I've been waiting for the third and final book, The Captal's Tower since 1998, it has remained my favorite series. It's different, open minded, the characters REALLY grab you, and it is my ideal world to live in. XD If you like fantasy, then you've got to read these books!
- Anne Bishop - The Black Jewel Trilogy is of course my favorite of hers. Again, it's a very DIFFERENT series, but I also love her Tir Allain Trilogy. (I think that's the title. First book is called Pillars of the World.) I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys dark fantasy.
- Sarah Douglas - first books I read were The Troy Game, but I also got REALLY into The Wayfarer Redemption/Battle Axe series (Title depends on whether you're in her native Australia or America.) 6 books. 6 wonderful, really different, really good books. Another must read for fantasy lovers.
- Anne (and Todd) McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. How coudl I not mention this epic series? I've read bits and peices of it since I first started reading fantasy. Then I borrowed most of the books from my friend. Then I bought them all for myself. ^.^ I'm finally finishing reading through the entire series. I have four books to go, two of which I've read before. It's gonna feel really good to finally have read this series. It's a nice blend of Sci-fi/Fantasy but even if you don't like Sci-fi, the first set of books (totally fantasy) will definitely get you hooked into reading more. If you love dragons, there couldn't be a better series of books.
Music: (Aside from Tenimyu.
)
- I've gotten REALLY into Il Divo. I blame Shirota Yuu, actually. I knew about them before, and I'd briefly heard them, but then he posted about them in his blog, and after I read that post, I found their Live at the Greek DVD in our store and decided to put it on. I then borrowed the dvd, burned it, and proceeded to order every piece of Il Divo merchandise we can get our grubby hands on. ^.^ My fav cd is Ancorra, but I also bought their Christmas album since we've been needing a new one for ages. (Oh, and I LOVE their songs I Believe and Isabelle ((and not just cause Shirotan posted a pic of his ipod with Isabelle playing which happens to be his mother's name...)) *cough*.... ^.^
- Aside from that, I used to be a HUGE Linkin Park fan. Kinda moved on from them, but I still enjoy ther songs a lot. ^.^
- Evanescence is one group I will never get tired of. I love their music. I love singing their music. I love other people complimenting me on singing their music.
I also love harmonizing with Amy Lee.
- There's a whole lot of random songs I really like. This is just a couple: Sweet Dreams (by Manson), Somebody Told Me (The Killers), Chop Suey (SoaD), Du Hast (Ramstein), All You Wanted (Michelle Branch or something), Lament (Leah Andreone), Kryptonite (3 Doors Down), Anna's Song and Year 2000 (Silverchair), Mad World (from Donnie Darko) They (Jem, I think.) There's more, but that'll do.
- Oh! And Pachelbel's Cannon by George Winston. XD Oh, and O Fortuna from Carmina Burana. Epic song. Even more epic by the Opera Babes. Explosive by Bond is great, too. Love their work.
- NewS are officially the BEST Japanese boyband of all time. They all sing incredibly well and I melt every time I hear Tegoshi's voice soar!
- Still, Shirota Yuu takes the cake. His voice, his writing talent, his prowess on various instruments... I really do adore him.
TV:
- I loooove me some Heroes.
- Recently I've gotten into House as well. Been watching it with dad. (He bought Seasons 1 - 3 for Christmas. ^.^)
- Hex. (Dad bought each season for $19.95 and we watched it all in the last two weeks.) BASTARDS!!!!!!! THERE'S NO SEASON THREE!!!!!!!!! It ends on a god damn CLIFF HANGAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Robin Hood the BBC Series. I borrowed this from my store to watch with mom and it actually turned out to be really good. I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a good tv series to watch.
- I was always a Buffy fan, too.
- My roommate Trevor and I watched a lot of Charmed together. I'll definitely have to finish off the entire series one day.
- Stargate SG-1 has ever been a love of mine. ^.^ Michael Shanks... XD (Daniel Jackson... XDXD)
- Always loved Xena. I'm close to finishing off the series. (I missed most of the last couple of Seasons on tv.)
- Highlander was also a big fav of mine when I was a lot younger. I've only just started recapping and catching up on that, but I'll get through it one day. Most people think it's crap and swear only by the movies, but I say screw them. *blows a rasberry*
Movies:
- I've always been a Star Wars geek, but then LotR crept into my heart as well.
- Stargate the movie I have loved since I first saw it in like grade 5 or something. (Ra, my god, my love...)
- I also ADORE Dogma, and one of my fav movies ever is Starship Troopers. ^.^ Looove that movie.
- Oh, and Underworld is damn good, too.
- And Mortal Kombat.
- Then there's J-movies. Boys Love, anyone? XDXDXDXD
- Can't WAIT to see Heat Island with Shirotan.
- Of course, I LOVE Battle Royale, who doesn't?
Anime:
- I REALLY enjoyed Claymore. That's definitely on my list of fav recent anime.
Ummmm, I've been on kinda a PoT spree for a while now. ^.^;
- Rozen Maiden wasn't bad, but it got a bit boring here and there...
- Noir was interesting, but I was too busy all year to really get into it.
- Higurashi (Nope, don't remember the rest of the name) also known as When the Cicadas Cry (or something along those lines) and The Lollie Killers. ^.^ Fkn AWESOME anime. Crazy little children who all die in different ways every four episodes. XD
- Death Note. I was LOVING this series. It was reachign favorite anime status, and then THAT happened. You all know what I'm talking about, I'm sure. WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
? (I still haven't brought myself to watch beyond that poitn and probably won't until I finish an L/Light fic to help me get over it.)
- D.Gray-man. I was always enjoying it, but not the same as I am now. Now I'm REALLY into it. It's gotten better and better as it's gone along (though there's a lot of filler.) You simply don't expect it to be so dark! but I love it this way! XD
- Also watching Bleach and Naruto, of course. ^.^
Live Action:
Back to the basics - Gokusen & Gokusen II. My first ever Live Action (I watched II first, actually). I loved it, and followed MatsuJun into -
- Hana Yoru Dango. (Dear GOD is Oguri Shun HOT as Rui!!! XD) Of course, I couldn't fail to follow Shun into -
- Hana Kimi (which I accidentally caught the first episode of in Japan. XD You shoulda seen my face when he appeared on screen. Then, of course, there was Shirotan appearing just at the end of the credits. I almost died. I swear, I nearly died of pure joy.)
- Sars fansubs also released Nodame Cantabile and First Kiss this year. First Kiss was interesting enough (as was Dr. Koto's Clinic), but I really enjoyed Nodame. I don't think I'd like the anime, though.
- Also, Galileo is currently being released. I've watched about 3 episodes (although I'm downloading the regular updates, I just have other things to catch up with before I get to it.)
Manga:
- I love me some Angel Sactuary. It's been my favorite manga for years (read it online) and now I'm one volume off from having the whole thing.
- Fruits Basket really disappointed me. (Fkn Akito in volume 17 if you've read it... I was NOT happy.) But I still like it. It WAS my second favorite. Not so much anymore.
- Yami no Matsui I LOVE. It's hard to get ahold of now that I'm not living down the street from Barnes and Noble anymore. Australia's manga options suck, but at least I can order it through the comic book store.
- Love Mode. My favorite Yaoi manga. I own volumes 1, 2, 3, & 5. 4 is on order from the comic book store. I was SO HAPPY when I saw 5 there, that I just had to buy it anyway. I'd bought he first three from Tower Records, and then it closed down and I moved back to Oz. >.<
- Alichino is a beautifully drawn and interesting manga. Too bad it's been cut off at three volumes.
- OMG I ALMOST FORGOT COUNT CAIN/GODCHILD!!! Another of Kaori Yuki's wonderful, beautiful series'. I LOVE this series. Cain is awesome, (and his whip scarred back is damn sexy!) A very intriguing and fascinating series, beautifully drawn as usual by my favorite artist ever. Kaori Yuki is a genius.
Games:
- FINAL FANTASY XII!!!! I don't think I'll EVER finis this game. too many side quests! Too many hunts!!! @_@ I'm doing pretty well, though. Played a nice chunk of the game so far. I hope to finish it before I go to Japan, but odds aren't good.
But yeah.
- FF & KH are the majority of my gaming.
- I did get an awesome PS3 game called Enchanted Arms, though. There's a gay dude in it. ^.^
- Also, I got Oblivion, but I prefer Japanese RPGs better.
- Tekken is THE game I play with my friends. If I have people over and we wanna do some gaming, Tekken's the one.
- I also LOVE Dynasty Warriors. If I'm pissed off or upset, there's nothing like running around for hours killing hundreds, maybe thousands of enemy soldiers. XD Hack and slash, baby!
- (I have a bunch of other games for PS2 but I don't play them much.)
- I almost forgot to mention D&D. I only started playing this year but I've come to really enjoy it. It sounds silly and geeky, but with a good group you can have a great time!
Musicals
(I kinda have to add this category since they've been such a huge part of my life.)
- Chess. My favorite musical ever. (Aside from tenimyu.) BRILLIANT music. The end. My roommate and I used to just randomly put Chess on and sing it. ^.^ I miss that.
- Les Mis. (On of the first musicals I ever saw live, and especially professionally. A classic with beautiful music and a great plot.
- Jesus Christ Superstar. I am in no way religious, but I hate all men cause I WANNA PLAY JESUS!!!! Why? Cause he gets to sing Gethsemane. Why does that matter? CAUSE IT'S AN AWESOME FRIGGING SONG!!!! (Also some fantastic songs in this musical.)
- Phantom. Not a Phantom buff like most theatre geeks, but it's the only musical I actually saw on Broadway in the entire two years I was living in NY. Oops. It WAS good, though.
- The Mikado. Probably my favorite Gilbert and Sullivan. I played Pitti Sing at my local amateur theatre. It was a really fun show to do, and I enjoy the music a lot (though after a couple of months of it I was just itching to listen to some Linkin Park.)
@_@ I have far too many interests. This is why I never have time for anything.
