Lets guess who I will cheer on: GO HONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!! GANBARE RYOMA!!! AGDUIPSGFOPUSFGO
I hate those first games Ryoma (and everyone for the matter) loose. There is always this structure of loosing at first, then doing smething cool, then the enemy does something cool and the winner is decided. I am so nervous I might just vomit the next time a chapter is out.

i think yukimura can defeat the second door... then ryoma will unlock the 3rd door... after that i guess it depends on whom konomi wants to win... because up to now, yukimura still has not shown any special skills... i personally want yukimura to win though i don't really like rikkai as compared to saigaku

There is no way in hell Yukimura can win. I refuse to believe that I have sat through this much PoT to watch RIKKAIDAI win over Seigaku!!! No WAY! I like Yukimura, but seeing him play a good match is enough for me. If he wins I will seriously hate him. (And sometimes they win easily at first, and then lose and then pick up. ) (And sometimes - and I hate this the most - they kick ass all throughout and then get inured and lose. >.<)

oh no... please no more injury in the middle of the game... it really spoils the mood... i guess taka-san's match is enough ^ I actually want them to end up in a draw. wow, it's a good idea... then the winner will be determined by additional match? i think it won't be the case because we do not have anymore 'significant' player being introduced from rikkai yes? i only want ryoma to lose because he never lose any match. i think he needs to experience it so that he won't be super arrogant when he grows up

He lost to Sanada, and he loses to his dad all the time.

He lost to Tezuka (2 times rite?) too... And everytime he lost, he will become stronger. I guess that is better (to learn from his losses and strive to be better) than suddenly able to master the 3 levels of 'super saiyan'... well dad is not counted because he used to be a pro anyw and i guess it is good for ryoma to lose sometimes or preferably have rival(s)... i guess rivalry helps tezuka, atobe, and sanada to become super strong to their current state now.

... Twice? I thoght it was just once he lost to Tezuka.
And Nan-ji counts cause Ryoma counts him, and the point is that Ryoma learns humility from losing, and since he takes his losses to his dad the hardest, I say it counts. ^.^

in the anime he lost 2x. the other one was before tezuka went to germany.. did ryoma beat Tezuka in the manga? because in the anime, he did that before he went for US open (which is not in the book i suppose?) no no... daddy must be discounted! lol... ryoma must beat him only after he becomes the best in the (prince of tennis) world and preferrably wait until he becomes no 1 i the world

No. He hasn't replayed Tezuka in the manga.
I think I vaguely remember something about it now, but I get the feeling it was inconclusive. I dunno. Guess I'll have to refresh myself.
Okay, see, now you're bringing plot sense into it, and plot sense DEFINITELY doesn't count in my world. As a fanfiction author I look at the 'possibilities' beyond plot. So yes, Nan-ji 'does' count, cause the only reason you're slating is that Ryoma has to lose for the sake of the plot. That's a cop out. Ryoma loses because he's not good enough to beat Nan-ji yet. That = a big fat LOSS on the scoreboard.
And considering the anime (discounting the OVAs) ended with Ryouma playing Lleyton Hewit (and back then Lleyton was still #1 I think), it's not long before he is #1 but he's STILL not good enought o beat Nan-ji. XD
