What the title says. Just as you thought this series would slowly fade away Konomi Takeshi-sensei announces a sequel to the manga. From ANNPurported ad says that "a new legend for Ryoma and the others will begin"
The December issue (on sale on November 4) of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine will reportedly announce that Takeshi Konomi will start a new manga series for The Prince of Tennis in the April issue (on sale on March 4). The purported advertisement from the Jump Square issue says that everything in The Prince of Tennis up to now has been "prologue" and that "a new legend for [the main character] Ryoma and the others will begin." Konomi ended the original manga series in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine last March after almost nine years and 379 installments. However, he has been soliciting new assistant artists since early August.
Jump Square already announced that a new "tribute" manga called Hōkago no Ōji-sama (The Prince of Afterschool) will launch in the December issue on November 4. The same issue will have a poster, the launch of a new series of feature articles on The Prince of Tennis musical, and a giveaway for musical tickets. The second volume in the third animated video series shipped this month, and the musical version continues to run in Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. Viz Media will publish the 28th of the 42 manga volumes in North America next month. So this will probably will mean a new anime series in the near future, more musicals and regaind interst in the Prince of Tennis

The phrase "houkago" makes me wonder a bit - it means "after school", so does that mean Ryoma has finished all of his education and is over 20 years old in this new manga? Maybe his old teammates and he end up seeing each other at adults' championships (something like the ATP) and playing against each other?

Well, does that mean that the old characters won't appear and it will be all about Ryoma's adventures in DBZland?

One thing that Lovux can't help but wonder about is the anime possibilities. I mean, seeing how insanely popular PoT is in Japan, it would be strange if they didn't make something out of this for us to watch on our TV's. But the thing is, would they make a whole new TV series or keep on with the OVAs? If it's going to be long manga, and the animators decide to go directly for the video market, then the OVA will surely break a new record or something, even if they keep up with the "One episode per match" policy. And we'll have to wait quite long between the releases AND for decent subs. However, with a new TV series, we get fillers (but we're rather lucky on that part; PoT fillers are actually entertaining and crack is always good) and, considering that the orginal TV anime left out stuff that weren't brought up untill the OVA, some unlogical continuity. Would the TV series start where Echizen left for America or at the end of the Nationals VS Rikkai? And what about the whole Muga deal? I'm not worried about the seiyuus though; I know that they all enjoy their work with a cracktastic series like this, and even if there's been some time since the first episode and some of the oldest cast's voices could have changed slightly, it's just fine, considering that they'll voice older characters, and I know for sure that I don't sound exactly the same as when I was 13-14. My wish bet is that Atobe will apear within the ten first chapters of the new manga.

Oh! I can't wait til the new series comes out. If it does occur after Ryoma is done with school, I wonder if he would have defeated Nanjiroh by then. Hmm.. Either way, I can't wait til March!!!

You know you are screwed when you read the newest info about the continuation of your favorite manga and you know for sure that the last thing you want to see there is your favorite characters.
EDIT: Uh, my 400th post was emo D:

MOAR INFO.Originally posted by hinoai on LJ, in the TeniPuri community:MANGA SENBATSU OMFG OMFG OMFG. Haven't we all had wet dreams about it? This makes Lovux even more excited about this "Shin Tennis no Oujisama" than before. Though I hardly believe there will be anything NEW in this series (Shin = new)...Glad there are no pictures of the uniforms to be seen, I want to wait and see it for myself when the glorious moment has come~ ---- From Anime News Network:The official Japanese website of The Prince of Tennis (Tennis no Ouji-sama) manga and anime franchise has confirmed that the release of a new anime called Tennis no Ouji-sama OVA Another Story ~Kako to Mirai no Message~ (The Prince of Tennis OVA Another Story ~A Message on the Past and Future~) has been green-lit. The announcement was originally made at The Prince of Tennis onstage panel at Shueisha's Jump Festa 09 event this past weekend. More details are being provided in next year's #4/5 double issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine (which was actually released on Monday) and in future issues.
The third volume of the current Tennis no Ōji-sama: Zenkoku Taikai-hen Final video series (pictured at right) will ship on January 23 in Japan. Viz Media will ship the 29th of Takeshi Konomi's 42 original manga volumes (pictured at left) in North America next month. Konomi ended the original manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump last March after almost nine years and 379 installments. However, Shueisha's Jump Square magazine confirmed in November that Konomi is developing a new manga for The Prince of Tennis starting in the magazine's April issue (on sale on March 4). Meanwhile, Dragon Drive manga and anime creator Ken-ichi Sakura launched Hōkago no Ōji-sama (The Prince of Afterschool), a four-panel "tribute" manga, in November. The musical version continues to run in Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. Only a freaking month left till the final OVA. The animators surely know how to make us fangirls wait. But maybe they do it because when we actually get it, we'll be so starving for new PoT material that we will appreciate it even if it's real crap - which the final match really is, to be true. Or it could just be that they want to make it as good as possible and don't rush things through like in the manga; we all know the outcome of the Atobe VS Echizen match mas MUCH better handled in the anime than in the manga.
