^ Matantei Loki was based on Norse mythology. That's why the characters are named after real Norse gods and goddesses (and actually are them. Spica is the reincarnation of Angrboda, the giantess who mothered Jormungand, Fenrir and Hel. ...And Mayura is considered to be the reincarnation of Sigyn, Loki's goddess wife). Here you can see the family tree of the principal gods. Fir Darrig here. PS. Mashou, it's actually not known if she's Freya or not. But most probably she IS, considering she, her brother Freyr and their father Njord were Vanir and not Aesir originally. (And the myth mentioned how the Vanir went crazy after learning how the Aesir had acted towards Gullveig.) |

^ Magni's twin brother Modi dies, though. Modi is the berserk one of the brothers and Magni is the strong one (he is even stronger than Thor). Magni and Modi here. It's just awesome that my Heimdall and his rival Loki totally kill each other... there's just something really cool about them having such a grudge... (Don't ask me why, but Loki is my other favorite God. ...Even though he's evil. x3333) Oh, and Magni survives Ragnarok, and so do the Norns (the Goddesses of Fate)... and Balder and Hod are reborn when Ragnarok is over and they become the top Gods in the new world. (I've always wondered if Odin's son Vidar survives? ...Since he is another of my favorite Gods.) |

Ah, I finally found out which gods survive Ragnarok and create a new world. They are:
Magni, Modi, Vidar, Vali and Hoenir. Balder and Hod return from Niflheim, the Underworld, and the former becomes the supreme god.
Magni and Modi are Thor's sons, the gods of might and war frenzy. Vidar is the son of Odin, a really quiet guy that rips Fenris' jaws apart with his bare hands and kills it. Vali is another son of Odin, and he ends up killing Hod after the aforementioned has been tricked by Loki into killing his own twin Balder with a mistletoe branch. Hoenir is called "The Undecisive God" (he also traveled the world with Odin and Loki). And Balder and Hod are twins, the gods of light and darkness (of which the latter is blind).
