Dammit. You two just made my hair stand on end. ...I actually don't like ANY of the first-years (except Dan, and him not in the sense you like Ryoma. I just think Dan is extremely cute.). I don't think that way of the second-years, either (except, perhaps... Hiyoshi and Aka-chan). But quite a lot of the third-years.... wow.
Saint Seiya characters have always been more awesome to me (at least they're around the right age, from 20 to 28... and most of the Goldies are hot. *________* Like Shura, Camus, Deathmask, Aiolia, Aiolos, young Dohko, Saga/Kanon and Milo... not to mention the Lost Canvas characters, like Manigoldo, Thanatos and Hypnos.). And Saiyuki characters are WAY better characterized than any Tenipuri guy. Their backgrounds... holy crap, Gojyo's stepmother tried to kill him when he was 12 and she was killed by her son, Gojyo's half-brother Jien, before she managed to finish her goal. And after that Gojyo ALWAYS blamed himself for her death. Plus Hakkai's fiancée committed suicide in front of his eyes when he was only 19... and Sanzo's master was killed in front of the poor boy's eyes when he was only 12. And they always blamed themselves for the deaths as well. (And then there's the demon Kougaiji who is willing to sacrifice the whole world and the entire humankind to save his mother.)
Of course, the styles of Saiyuki and Tenipuri are completely different, but it still shows that some people just are better at characterizing than others (perhaps it's because Saiyuki's mangaka is a woman?).
PS. Ryoma might be cute, but I can't stand him because of his attitude and the fact that he always wins. ...I agree with Plantress, Kaidoh should have played that Rokkaku match in his place just like he did in the manga.

1. Hakkai/Gojyo
2. Sanzo/Kougaiji/Zenon
3. Dokugakuji/Homura
4. Goku/Shien
Don't know about Kami-sama and Hazel yet, because I haven't watched Reload fully (and thus haven't seen Gunlock at all). Hm... and I can't stand Gyokumen Koushu and Ni Jyeni. I just hate the former and despise the latter.

Oh, those weren't pairings. xD;; Just my favorite characters. ...I think my favorites list has changed a bit.
1. Hakkai, Gojyo, Zakuro, Kami-sama, Kougaiji and Kenyuu (=young Ni Jyeni)
2. Sanzo, Dokugakuji, Hazel, Zenon and Koumyou Sanzo
3. Homura, Goku, Shien, Ni Jyeni and Gato
...*glomps Kenyuu* When he was younger and not as despicable as his present self is, he was so cute and lovable and wonderful! *______* ...Kousuke Toriumi's cutest of the cute slightly ironic voice&tone didn't really help me get over him...
