Ryoma knows there are people he is mada mada dane to beat yet. He just doesnt say it in the open, cause he is a private person, deep down. He knows Tezuka and Nanjirou are still stronger than him, and he does know what getting beat is like. He just has high standars and is trying to get in the place to be stronger and fulfill Tezuka´s requesof being Seigaku´s pillar of support (I can not belive I said that in a rational conversation and whitout pun intended) so he is not only fighting for himself, not now that he has met this people and learnt to not be an individualistic player. He knows he has a team. And Ryoma is not easily influenced in any way, he has clear objetives, knows how he wants to get them and is not interested in almost ANYTHING besides that.

meli-chaaaaaaaaaan!!! You too, Brutus, son. I cant believe you signed up in the lest say Ryoma causes insanity club. I mean I know about Tessa-neesan and Lovux-semapi, but that i did not expect.

If you like Ryoma, you're insane. If you doesn't, too. Stop arguing about who is insaner. Sane is a negative adjetive in MY dictionary. Don't know yours.
Besides, I will defend ochibi (check it out, dear, so you don't say I don't love him) saying that this attitude of constant want-to-win is due to his father. Since he was a little boy Nanjirou kept telling him he would never beat him, and teaching him tennis just to get Ryoma to want to beat him. So now he's always trying to impove himself more and more so he can get to beat his father. And to beat him, he needs to beat Tezuka and Yukimura.
Besides, he is the MAIN CHARACTER girls. And shounens are about the main character improving himself. Becoming a Shaman King, a Hokage, the strongest warrior or the best japanese tennis player. Aren't you used to that?

...No. It's the very same thing with Seiya (from Saint Seiya, obviously). He always steals the best scenes. There was poor Frey who sacrificed his life to save the Goddess Athena... and then SEIYA swoops in and takes all the glory. >.< I hate it when he does that. (Good thing there is Ikki to steal the cool entrance scenes and the title of the strongest Bronze Saint. ...Seiya can never become as strong as him. I mean, Ikki is the PHOENIX Saint and is thus reborn after every death, and even stronger than before.) Now that I think about it... there isn't a main main character to steal all the good scenes in Saiyuki, Angelique or Harukanaru. They're all equal. (That is why I like Saiyuki so much. The guys never overshadow each other.) |
