...I found an LJ post about the Tenipuri Song Marathon. Summer_queen reviewed the event. (She was there.)
Anyway, I copied her post here. Have fun reading it and finding out what happened. X3
Takahashi and "Nya nya" is so adorable. XD Hiroki Takahashi is pretty cute IRL.
They horsed around for this song, Kiuchi and Tsuda chasing Okiayu from stage left to stage right, looking like they were having a blast, the whole time.
^ I WANT TO SEE THAT. TT_________TT It's like, seeing Oshitari and Inui chasing Tezuka around! XDDD
SOUICHIRO! I WANNA SEE HIM SINGING "DA DA DA"! TT__________________TT PAPPI~! *glomp*
Hey, even Summer_queen said that Namikawa aka Choutarou is pretty but can't sing. XDDDDD
And then Morikubo Shoutarou was up for Rikkai-dai. Alas, he was on the other side of the stage, at the very top … and oh my, he was going for Kirihara hair, black instead of dyed and all teased/tousled. He's still absolutely gorgeous, but I prefer hearing him with AN'S.
^ *agrees* Morikubo is gorgeous. X_______X
Niou's seiyuu is VERY cute, even with very big hair; nice singing voice as well; I may need to hunt his songs down at some point. Yukimura's seiyuu is very elegant, and yay, Kusunoki sang Keep Going On. He's lost a lot of weight and is dressing stylishly -- guess being diet buddies with Okiayu finally paid off!
^ ...Diet? XDDDDD All right, now I really wonder what Kusunoki looked like... and Yuuki Masuda is cute.
This was followed by a cracktastic melody of Sanada, Atobe and Oshitari's Valentine Kiss. I don't recall who Kusunoki was backed by, but they all had red feather boas. Suwabe was backed by Kabaji's seiyuu … in white feather boas. And Kiuchi had Namikawa and Kusuda … all with PINK feather boas. *dead again from the crack*
^ ...Namikawa and Kusuda in PINK feather boas?! XDDDDDD *dies*
all the pairs playing up to the fans (e.g., the high hand clasp for the Silver Pair … and Takahashi not just running to catch up with Kondo, but jumping on his back to be carried off stage….)
^ ...CUTE! XD Takahashi jumping on Kondo!
and Kiuchi all but picked Namikawa up and threw him into the front row (not that I would've complained a bit to find him in my lap! He and Hoshi were especially kind to remember to wave to us in the front row.)
^ ...WAIT! Did Oshitari's seiyuu REALLY throw Choutarou's seiyuu in the front row, in the audience?! O______O
And during the final We Love TeniPuri (which included tossing Kondo up in the air), she gave up and just started crying … which started Okiayu, Takahashi and Konomi crying too.
^... Minagawa, Okiayu, Takahashi and Konomi crying? ...I've never seen Takahashi and Okiayu crying! O_______O
...And yup, no Wonderful Days. T_______T
PS. Does it sound weird that I absolutely love Hiroki Takahashi, Eiji's seiyuu? He's just so adorable in real life, too. X3
Anyway, I copied her post here. Have fun reading it and finding out what happened. X3
The usual show messages about cameras, recording, etc. were done by Minagawa and Okiayu, in character. ^_^ And shortly after that, the lights dimmed, a whole heck of a lot of people came on stage and the music for "future" started. Eeeee! And everyone jumped to their feet, where we stayed, for all but one bit in the middle of the show. After Minagawa welcomed everyone to the event, everyone except Aozu left the stage and they sang Freedom and Don't Look Back (yay -- the song they didn't play at the Echizen live!). Exit Aozu and bring on Cap to Bin for two songs. Absolutely died at Takahashi doing the "Nyan nyan" at the beginning of Tonde! Mawatte! It's quite brain-breaking to be watching him and hear Eiji's voice.
Following Cap to Bin, the Seigaku regulars each had a song. Yay for Dreaming on the Radio and Niji! And Onosaka was very amusing, in his pot leaf adorned jersey, delivering Sayonara in a *very* laconic, yet over-wrought, manner. Kiyasu was absolutely adorable head banging through Chain Reaction.
A moment to describe the stage: several tiers, made from risers, so folks could stand on the stage, or use the tiers as their stage. And in the middle of it all was a third entrance. As Onosaka left the stage, a gaggle of cheerleaders with tiny pompoms came on stage, cheering at the middle entrance. "What the…?" I thought. And then the opening notes to Go Go Meganes! Started, and out through the cheerleaders burst Okiayu, Tsuda and Kiuchi -- each wearing a t-shirt color-coded to his Meganes character and the appropriate set of glasses (and what I didn't notice the first time, each t-shirt had a big pocket sewn in the front, holding four or five pairs of spare glasses). They launched into the song and … just before seguing into Mannatsu no Meganes, they tossed their glasses off and put a second pair on. They horsed around for this song, Kiuchi and Tsuda chasing Okiayu from stage left to stage right, looking like they were having a blast, the whole time. Then the tempo changed and they drifted into Kira Kira Meganes; Okiayu was sitting up on one of the risers on my half of the stage, Kiuchi was standing on that side, and Tsuda on the other. After Kira Kira, they went right back into Mannatsu and wrapped up with Go, Go! again. Marvelous! I'm sure I was grinning like a fool (when I wasn't singing along).
And I was still grinning, as the music for Cross with You started, and Suwabe came out to sing: the beginning of the Hyoutei section of the show. Next, Kiuchi was back and I was bouncing fit to be tied that Gin no Ken had made it into the show … and right after that was Hoshi, with Da Da Da, which I also adore. Wow, Hoshi's hair is SHORT (unlike Suwabe, who's wearing his a few inches longer than when I saw him last summer). I didn't know Hiyoshi's song, but it was pleasant. Then Kusuda, who's very genki, and a good live singer. And then … damn, Namikawa is pretty (he was wearing dark pants, a white shirt and a silvery vest), but he really can't sing. Still, watching Kusuda and Namikawa was pleasant enough.
And then, yet another moment that broke my brain: Suwabe reappeared at the top of the stairs in Atobe's white suit … and a blue feather boa. *dies* And the remaining Hyoutei boys were all on the main stage. Cue "Charm Point wa nakibokuro," which is amazing crack as a song … and even more so with the guys doing the little dialogue while Atobe's extolling the charms of his mole -- and then they broke out the do-wop backing vocals and I died yet again. This song was stuck in my head the ENTIRE rest of my trip, and in such a good way. Spelling out A-T-O-BE and chanting Hyoutei with 4,000+ other fans was just too much fun. (ein, zwei, drei! Charm pointo wa….)
Rokkaku followed this (what an act to follow). I didn't know the songs, but they were entertaining and I had a few random thoughts: Dabide's seiyuu is such a geeky little guy compare to Dabide … Bane's seiyuu looks like he's older than me … Kentarou's seiyuu is, unsurprisingly, genki … Saeki's seiyuu has a very nice voice.
And then Morikubo Shoutarou was up for Rikkai-dai. Alas, he was on the other side of the stage, at the very top … and oh my, he was going for Kirihara hair, black instead of dyed and all teased/touseled. He's still absolutely gorgeous, but I prefer hearing him with AN'S. (I should note, btw, that even with costume changes, the teams all tried to wear one identifying colour -- Hyoutei = blue, Rikkai-dai = yellow, Rokkaku = red, Higa = purple and so on).
Aozu came back after Rikkai-dai, for White Line, then Cap to Bin with Omedetou Samba … and then both groups for Departures (yay!) So far Okiayu's had a different outfit on for each set -- gotta like that!
Next up were the Higa team, starting with Kite's seiyuu. What a great, easy-going song. Another one I'll need to get. Yoshino Hiroyuki cracked me up -- all in white, HUGE white sunglasses and a pair of leather belts slung so low I'm amazed he could walk. He's got a great voice. Nakamura is a cutie, and his song is fun -- thumbs up for the Higa contingent.
By then it was clear they were going to do all 100 songs in the three hours, not split them across shows as I'd thought they might. I had clued in that they were doing just parts of each song, but still wasn't sure until this point that they were going to fit them all in.
The next performer … wasn't even on the list of scheduled performers. It was the random guy who got a single that was a tongue twister: Kiichi no Hayakuchi Kotoba. Absolutely hilarious to hear him rattling off the tongue twister, only to get booted from the stage when they turned the light off on him.
And then … o.O Okiayu is doing calithenics in front of us. Dressed as Tezuka in Seigaku warm-ups and glasses. While Onosaka and Kiyasu snarl through the beginning of Bigaku no Otoko. And once they launch in, "Tezuka" has coreography that "Momo" picks up on really quickly, but "Kaidoh" is slow to (Gyunu da!). Part way through, our brave tongue twister comes back on stage and gets out a couple of more lines before he's frowned off stage by the three Seigaku guys, who finish their song.
New song next! Kabaji and someone else with "Yakiniku," which then led to a reading, by most of the cast for the upcoming Prince of Yakiniku episode. Most amusing: Kondo Takayuki as an angry Oishi, telling us to SIT DOWN already. Heee. And Okiayu could not get out a full "Yudan sezu ni ikou" the entire reading; someone was always interrupting him. And the best thing about this bit? Oshitari was one of the main commentators (though Kiuchi was on the opposite side of the stage, alas), along with Eiji, so loooooots of the two of them in character. *purrrs*
Then came a slew of duet songs. Cream of the crop -- Atobe and Kabaji for KA BA JI. Kabaji's seiyuu is … rather limber. ^_^ Though he got pushed aside by the Dirty Pair for Spiral -- eeeeee! Namikawa and Kusuda being cute again. Invitation by Kawamoto and Kaida!
And, whoa, Minagawa AND Konomi-sensei, singing one of Ryoma's songs from Progress. Never expected Konomi-sensei would be there. Wonder what he thinks of singing in front of 5,000 mostly female fans? ^_^
Kiuchi stayed on stage for Te Tsunago … and then Suwabe was back with the white suit and a blue rose to sing October. And then Okiayu -- again with the delightful wardrobe change -- to sit on the risers on my side of the stage to sing Since Last Goodbye. *melts*
A few more Seigaku solo songs, and then a whole BUNCH of Ryoma songs. More Seigaku, most notable (for me) of which were I ~ Jyan, Jump and Never Surrender. More Seigaku, with Kusuda thrown in the middle, and then a run of Oshitari songs -- yay! Mebachiko! *dies yet again*
Suwabe again, for a great selection of Atobe songs, then back to Minagawa, followed by oh-my-god, the Meganes in frock coats and cravats! Cue a flamenco dancer, who got cozy with each of the guys, then left the stage so they could sing. After, Kiuchi introduced the newest Meganes single, their last, sniff (since, well, as they point out, they're no longer third year students!), Sayonara Meganes. Beautiful, but sniffffffffff.
Next up: more group songs. First the one with Kusuda and Kaida, then Hyoutei Eternity to sing Fujiyori and oh dear lord they're wearing the shiny, billowy coats from the single's cover! You lovable dorks! Aozu again, for their OP OVA song, then Cap to Bin with Sankyuu. And … eeeeeEEEEE … Gather, hands down my favourite Tenipuri song. No Shinji, since MoriEiji was busy with Bleach, but Kiuchi filled in on his bits.
And … song 100, the new unit, Ikeman Samurai with Dear Prince. Except EVERYONE came out to sing along with Minagawa, Okiayu, Kusunoki and Suwabe. Including Konomi. I think I memorized the chorus, it was sung so many times between the two shows. XDD
Everyone left the stage so we could clap for an encore, which of course we did, and were rewarded with GIGS singing Flower and then We Love Seigaku done as We Love TeniPuri. Heh.
And there you go: 102 songs in roughly 3 hours. I'm not sure how they had the energy to do a second show: we were exhausted and famished and all we'd done was sing along and cheer them on….
Anyhow, we replenished our energy at the KFC in Queen's Square and then I hopped in line for the second show while panjapanja went to go wait for the person she was buying her second ticket from. Got inside pretty quickly and escaped the merchandise line to go sit by the inner doors. Struck up a very halting conversation with another Oshitari fan who, along with her friend, was just gobsmacked I'd flown to Tokyo alone for the show. Heh. Once inside, I amused myself watching the expressions of all the 5th row people as they came to see their seats were first row. A lot of "Maji!" going around. ^__^ I wish my seat had been a tad more towards center -- 2 of the 3 auctions I lost were for seats right in the middle. But I am certainly not going to complain about how close I was.
The show was identical to the first, save a few twists: Takahashi goofing slightly on his first song, Suwabe adding some mighty ass shaking to Charm Point, Kusunoki forgetting to sing during one part of Gather (which made the rest of them peer down the line at him and chuckle), Suwabe's crotch-grabbing (his own) during KA BA JI, Hiyoshi's seiyuu's hip thrusts during Fujiyori … all the pairs playing up to the fans (e.g., the high hand clasp for the Silver Pair … and Takahashi not just running to catch up with Kondo, but jumping on his back to be carried off stage….) the Meganes taking off their frock coats to reveal vests that read Me (Tusda), Ga (Kiuchi) and Ne (Okiayu). At the end of Sayonara Meganes, they came forward and folded their glasses nearly at the stage edge (awww). And I missed by a few feet nabbing Tsuda and Okiayu's glasses when they threw them during the medley. I didn't want to crawl across a photographer and get in trouble. I did jump forward to propel one of the giant ball-balloons they released during Gather (they did streamers too, but couldn't get one of those) … only to have Suwabe pop one of them -- eek, loud. Kiuchi and Onosaka were chest butting during We Love TeniPuri … and Kiuchi all but picked Namikawa up and threw him into the front row (not that I would've complained a bit to find him in my lap! He and Hoshi were especially kind to remember to wave to us in the front row.) At one point during Ryoma's string of songs, Minagawa broke down and had to pat her chest to calm herself and get back into Ryoma voice -- she had to tell herself "Change, change," a few times. And during the final We Love TeniPuri (which included tossing Kondo up in the air), she gave up and just started crying … which started Okiayu, Takahashi and Konomi crying too. As folks were getting ready to leave the stage, Seigaku did a team huddle and cheer, which led the other teams to follow suit … and after everyone else but Suwabe had left the stage (and he eventually ducked out too), Seigaku, on the other side of the stage, alas, just couldn't leave … Onosaka let out a "DON!" for everyone … and then they finally left. Wah!
The shows were worth all the hassle and every penny to get there. I'll never have another seiyuu experience quite like it, certainly not with so many performances, and certainly not with Okiayu so close, singing so many songs. I can still remember when I didn't know anything about Prince of Tennis but the first few eps and Okiayu's songs … and now saying good bye hurts. Arigatou, Konomi-sensei, Okiayu-san, minna-san!
