i speak Cantonese pretty much everyday since my grandma lives with us and she doesn't speak English. she's trying to teach me how to speak Mandarin from books, but i keep forgetting... ._. she's trying to get me to write more too.

my mom is fluent in Cantonese, she knows Mandarin and Taiwanese and a little Spanish (from school). my dad is also fluent in Cantonese, knows Mandarin and a little Taiwanese. my grandma is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and knows Taiwanese and Japanese. its pretty cool :] my sister only learned Cantonese (and English no duh) and a little Japanese and Spanish. i know Cantonese, a little Mandarin and Japanese and is going to learn Spanish next year in school :]

First things first: WELCOME FELLAAAAH~!! *the happy dance*

France, huh?
Actually, I've read french for, hmm, what was it, five years, but I quit it when I begun second year in high school *which happaned in august this year*, partly because you don't have to study language ('cept for english of course) if you go the art program, partly because I just didn't feel like continue the studies *had really bad grades in french for the last two years, though Lovux DID pass the final exams*. So now I have, like, MONSTER-BREAKS of two-three hours on tuesdays and thurdays, it's KILLING me! Yes it does! 'Cuz when having long breaks like that, you get time to calm down mentally, and then the next lessons feels just BLEH THE CAVEWOMEN LOVUX HAS ZERO BRAINCELLS LEFT, instead of if you've being all alert as you usually are when the breaks are for just ten och twenty minutes... But that's just me though.

WTF why do I always end up rambling on and on and on about something compleately off topic...?

Oh, there's no need for you to feel that your english is bad. I'm not that confident in my skills in other languages either. Personally, I think my english suck, big time I clearly lack of it all, unlike my sister; she speaks perfectly english, and is also VERY familiar to french, italian and latin. When she graduatied, she had, like, the highest grades in ALL the her language classes
But anyways, the most of the people here have english as their first language, so I hardly belive there will be any problems AT ALL for you being understood by others. And yes, reading fanfictions is both a fun and great way to learn other languages. If it wasn't for the fanfictions, I would by far NOT be as "skilled" as I am today.
